      Because it affects the centre of gravity, puts it lower and thus and helps balancing it. Same applies to humas, children have the centre of gravity much lower compared to the body position than adults.

    So you want to prevent the tower from overturning. That block that you refer to can be called the foundation, and is usually made up of concrete and steel.

    Factors effecting overturning are wind loading and the ground conditions on which that block is placed.

    1:2 ratio against overturning with keep that tower standing, so make sure that block is big!!
